Astaxanthin is a naturally occurring red pigment in the class of compounds known as carotenoids and is found in high concentrations in algae and salmon. (Where it causes salmon’s well known pink-red color.) "I researched this on nih(dot)gov prior to purchase. It is an antioxidant. The source used by DoubleWood is the best natural source of Astraxanthin. I've noticed a positive difference with my skin condition since taking it. It appears to be a high quality product. Can't really attest to other things it may help with (CVD, NDD, anti cancer, prevent diabetes), only time will tell with continued use."
