Signs of Low T and What to Do

Signs of Low T and What to Do

Peter Coss |

Research shows Low T or low Testosterone effects as many as 25% men over the age of 30. It is defined as a condition where the body does not make enough of the male hormone testosterone, responsible for sex drive, fat distribution, muscle mass and strength and red blood cell and sperm production. Low T symptoms include low sex drive, difficulty maintaining an erection, hair loss, low sperm count, bone loss, sleep issues such as insomnia, decreased muscle size and strength, increased body fat and depression. Untreated testosterone deficiency can lead to heart disease, osteoporosis, heart disease, or other age related illnesses. Β
Aging is the most common cause of Low T, but according to recent studies it can be exasperated by other conditions such as:Β
  • Obesity
  • Chronic Kidney DiseaseΒ
  • Alcoholism or other substance addictionsΒ
  • Chronic stress or depressionΒ
  • Type 2 diabetesΒ
  • High cholesterol
  • Erectile dysfunctionΒ
  • High blood pressureΒ
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary diseaseΒ
Increasing testosterone can be managed in a few ways, the most popular being testosterone replacement therapy in the form of injections, pellets, patches or gels. The cost of this type of therapy ranges from $1650- $3200 per year and can be quite time consuming as the treatments must be administered in a doctor’s office. Potential side effects include, acne, weight gain, mood swings, breast enlargement or pain, tiredness, pain or swelling in the injection area, deepening of the voice, and/or difficulty falling asleep/ staying asleep.Β
But other options are available! Recent studies have shown great success with various testosterone boosting supplements.
  1. Beta Ecdysterone is a naturally occurring compound found in plants and animals that has been found to support optimal levels of male hormones and post-resistance training recovery. One study on Beta found a 20% increase in protein synthesis via stimulation of the P13k pathway.Β
  2. Tribulus is an herb used in ayurvedic medicine that has been found to support testosterone levels, libido, stamina as well as cardiovascular health. The main ingredient in Tribulus contributing to these benefits is called saponins. Double Wood’s complex is standardized to 95% saponins and one of the most potent on the market.Β
  3. DHEA is an endogenous hormone produced by the adrenal glands, gonads and brain. Research shows DHEA levels peak in our 20s and rapidly deteriorate over the next 20-30 years. DHEA supplementation supports improved mood, mental clarity, and healthy muscle mass as we age. DHEA cannot be supported through diet, so supplementation is key.Β
  4. Fadogia Agrestis is a shrub bush known in Eastern Africa for its aphrodisiac properties. It is often used to support healthy testosterone levels in men and is commonly used by athletes to improve performance. It works by helping to signal the body to make more testosterone. Like tribulus, fadogia also contains saponins as well as anthraquinones, flavonoids, and glycosides.Β
  5. Tongkat also known as Eurycoma Longifolia Jack, Malaysian Ginseng, or Longjack is an herb found to support healthy libido and cortisol levels. Research shows Tongkat Ali has been found to support healthy libido levels, especially as one ages. Double Wood’s Tongkat is the yellow Tongkat variety, which is regarded to be the most potent. It is paired with Tribulus making an effective complex.Β
All of Double Wood’s supplements come with a certificate of analysis as well as a money back guarantee. And all of our products are third party tested for quality. See which supplement works best for you!
